What is the David Livingstone Project?

David Livingstone was a missionary who dedicated his life and ministry to reaching the African continent with the gospel of Jesus Christ (click on Read More below). Through this project named in his honor, donations go to help young men in Portuguese-speaking countries. These donations will help young pastors and Bible students to receive:

> theologically sound books

> pastoral training

> mentoring

> participation in Bible conferences

Our desire is to help a young pastor or seminary student for two years. We already have a number of men that we are helping (see names, photos and brief bios below), who are students at the Reformed Baptist Bible Institute, or RBBI, in Angola. The PSP is partnering with RBBI to help train these men and other young pastors in Africa.

Domingos Benjamim - seminary student

My name is Domingos Benjamim, and I am a member of the Reformed Baptist Church of Angola. Although I am not yet an ordained minister, my desire is for the ministry. I have been serving in my local church under the supervision of my pastors and often visiting absent brothers. Sometimes, I look for those who are weak in the faith, and we pray and meditate together. Sometimes I try to help the other ministers in whatever way I can.

Jose Correia Kiluanje - seminary student

My name is José Correia Kiluanje. I am married and a member of the Futungo church. I do not currently hold any office in the church, however, but I am aspiring to the role of pastor, God willing. It is a desire I've had for a few years, but was dependent on training in theology, according to what I desire in the Lord. This calling to the ministry has been confirmed by the brothers of the congregation, through the service and care of the church. My Desire for pastoral ministry is not tied to a specific local church. I want to serve wherever there is a need that calls for me. In this, I do not retreat from serving in my current community, after graduation, if it were so determined by His grace!

José Calhão Firmino - church elder

My name is José Calhão Firmino, married to Luzineide Maria Ndala Gambo Firmino. I have been faithfully serving in the pastoral ministry for four years at the Sapu II Community Church: teaching, exhorting, and comforting, with zeal for the church of God and according to the gospel of the glory of God.

Adeljamar José dos Reis - deacon

My name is Adeljamar José dos Reis, and I am a member of the Reformed Baptist Church of Angola. I am part of the body of ministers of my local community and for 2 years I have been serving as a deacon. I am responsible for one of the small groups (the south Luanda congregation) that we have spread across different points in the city. I am one of the permanent service leaders of the church, and I also assist as a Sunday School teacher (whenever needed). As a deacon too, I am directly linked to the reception and discipleship of new members.

Silvestre Cussumua Papelo Silvestre - pastor

My name is Silvestre Cussumua Papelo Silvestre. I am 27 years old, married, baptized, and an active member of the Reformed Church of Camama for more than 8 years. I have been serving this church as pastor since 2018, together with Ismael Fernando, who unfortunately left the church, not accepting in the Doctrines of Grace.

Serving the Reformed Church of Camama has been a blessing for me. The brothers and sisters are committed, lovers of the Sacred Scriptures, abundant in brotherly love, zealous about Bible study, practical in personal evangelization and dynamic in generosity. All of this has been the result of the work that the Lord has done through our pastoral ministry.

António Bandeira João - deacon

My name is António Bandeira João. I have been a member of the Reformed Baptist Church for four years, where I have served as a deacon for almost two years. I am responsible for welcoming new members and teaching the doctrines central to the faith and our vision as a Reformed Baptist church. I am also a teacher of the membership class. As a member of the body of ministers I have assisted in the liturgy of worship and the administering of the Lord's Supper. I am responsible for coordinating the Bible school for teenagers and children, and I participate in the preparation of classes with the objective of teaching them in the way of the Lord. I participate directly and intentionally in the discipleship of brothers. I am involved with praying and visiting with the aim of encouraging our brothers to believe and seek to be conformed to the image of Christ.

Samuel Vicente Quihuhu - seminary student

My name is Samuel. Since a very early age I have had a desire for the ministry. This desire comes because of the inclination I have in the care and shepherding of the brothers, often assisting the leadership of the congregation. I have served as an assistant in preaching as well as in accompanying brothers, being, however, under the supervision and blessing from local ministers. I understand that I still need to grow in my spiritual abilities, and the preparation in the Word is very important. For this reason, I joined the IBBR (Bible training institute), so that preparing and working, in time I can serve the Lord as a pastor in the congregation.

André João Tonga - seminary student

My name is André João Tonga, born on December 23, 1997. I am studying higher education in business management. I am a young Angolan Christian, married to Delfina Alberto Tonga. I am a member at the Sola Scriptura Reformed Baptist Church. I have served my brothers constantly in the breaking of bread, in prayers and in doctrine. I have a desire to better serve the congregation, which is why I joined the IBBR (Bible training institute) to train me. I have exercised the ministry of expounding the word, exhortation, and counseling the church.

Jerson Virgilio Gomes - seminary student

My name is Jerson Virgílio Chioca Gomes, member of the Zona Verde Church in Viana. I have been a member for over a year, and I serve the brothers: exhorting, calling and caring for the souls of the brothers. I have sometimes been selected to lead public worship as well as exhorting the church. I am sure that I was called by God to the presbytery. This conviction comes from the Scriptures. It has been evidenced by the desire to be ordained to the presbytery and by the testimony of the brothers on an ongoing basis. I long for the ministry because I want to honor the Lord in the calling given, to serve and care for His church and the expansion of His Holy Kingdom.

Agostinho Santana Dala - church elder

My name is Agostinho Santana Dala João, one of the pastors of the Luanda-Sul Church and married to Marcela, and the father of a beautiful girl, Ayanda. The true pastor is the one who is united to Christ and, through Christ, leads the flock to conform to Christ. So, in my ministry I have devoted myself to family, church and society, relating to the sheep, exposing them to all the advice of God, consoling and helping the injured sheep, rescuing the lost sheep, striving in studying the Word of God, praying for the flock, seeking to live, whether in the family or in society, according to biblical teaching.
